What Silver Pines is
Silver Pines is a survival horror game with metroidvania navigation, set in a small American town that looks left in a hurry. The Steam description puts Red Walker in the middle of nowhere on a job to track Eddie Velvet. The case opens onto a darker past, and the town stops behaving like a place you can simply walk out of.
Combat is not the only verb. The store page says you fight or avoid the horrors, scavenge, and solve the puzzles that block the way. Locked doors and hidden paths are the structure. Better tools and weapons make more of the town reachable. That is the whole loop: survive a room, keep the right object, open a door you already walked past.
Inventory space is limited. The publisher’s own line is that every bullet, bottle of medicine, and upgrade matters. That is why this guide leads with a pocket planner instead of a fake map. Wych Elm has not published a slot count, a drop table, or weapon stats we are willing to pretend are official. The Case Kit is a planning aid. It labels itself that way.
It is Wych Elm’s debut, published by Team17. Steam lists Action, Adventure, Indie, and RPG tags, plus achievements, Steam Cloud, Family Sharing, and full controller support, including DualSense on the store categories. There is no Mac or Linux build on the Steam page. English has full audio. Nine other languages have interface support.
Silver Pines release date, price, and platforms
Silver Pines launched on October 8, 2026. The same date covers Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Team17 had announced the game in October 2025 and dated it in June 2026. A PC demo was available before launch.
The September 24, 2026 Steam news post set the standard edition at $24.99 / £21.99 / €24.99 on Steam and consoles, with a launch discount on Steam. The Deluxe Edition was announced at $31.99 and includes the game, an artbook, and the official soundtrack. On October 11, 2026 the live Steam price was $22.49, a 10% cut. Confirm it on the store. Metacritic lists 85 for the PC version. Early Steam reviews sat in Very Positive territory. The store page also carries a GamesRadar+ line, “Powerfully gripping from start to finish,” at 4.5 out of 5. Read the Silver Pines review briefing before you treat any of that as a promise about your own taste.
